Do you feel you can contribute to the work of the SHMA? Do you have a keen interest in the community and feel that you want to make a difference. Well here is your chance!
At the next AGM scheduled for April, you will be able to stand for election as a trustee of the SHMA. The constitution allows for 7 trustees to sit on the committee and there are stipulations in the adopted consitition as to how the committee should be made up to ensure that it reflects the diverse nature and ethinic background of the local Muslim community. However anyone can be proposed as a potential trustee. The votes will be taken at the next AGM when the new trustees will take office.
The only stipulation is that we ask that you do make some time for this important role, we recommedn at leats 60 hours be set aside during the year to attend meetings and take care of actions that may arise.
The application process is straightforward, simply download the form and complete it and return it to the address stated on the form. There is a section asking for a "Nominee Statement", although it is optional we recommend you do complete this providing some background about yourself, why you wish to be a trustee and what you feel you can contribute to the work of the SHMA.
Closing dates for all applications is February 28th, 2009.
